Short answer: For a Jeep on Maui, the best-rated local companies are BEXT Premium Jeep Rental (5.0 on 504 Google reviews) and Cruisin’ Maui (5.0 on 498), both in Kahului near the airport. Cruisin’ Maui says it allows dirt roads at your own risk. If you only want an open-top drive on paved roads, a Jeep from an airport company is usually enough.
A Maui Jeep rental is mostly about the drive itself: roof off on the way up the coast, room for beach gear, and a higher seat on rough parking lots. Few of Maui’s main sights need four-wheel drive, and the paved Road to Hana is fine in any car. Here is who rents Jeeps on Maui, how they rate on Google, and what each one allows.
Maui Jeep rental companies, by Google rating
| Company | Where | Google rating | Reviews |
|---|---|---|---|
| BEXT Premium Jeep Rental | 106 Kane St, Kahului | 5.0 | 504 |
| Cruisin’ Maui Rent-A-Car | 591 Haleakala Hwy, Kahului | 5.0 | 498 |
| Maui Camper Escapes (camper vans, Jeeps, trucks) | 591 Haleakala Hwy, Kahului | 4.9 | 118 |
| CampCar (Jeep and SUV camping rentals) | 133 Hone St, Kahului | 4.9 | 109 |
| Island EV Rentals (convertible Jeeps) | 380 Huku Lii Pl, Kihei | 4.9 | 67 |

BEXT Premium Jeep Rental
BEXT rents only Jeeps: 2- and 4-door Wranglers, Grand Cherokees, the 8-seat Wagoneer and lifted Wranglers. Its site lists airport, resort and cruise delivery. It also runs a Honolulu location.
Cruisin’ Maui Rent-A-Car
Cruisin’ Maui rents Wranglers and Gladiator pickups with a 2-inch lift spacer and all-terrain tires, next to the airport in Kahului. Its site offers drop-off and pickup anywhere on the island and says it allows the back side of the Hana Highway, dirt roads and off-roading at your own risk. That is unusual: most rental agreements forbid the unpaved back road past Kipahulu.
Island EV Rentals
Based in Kihei, Island EV rents convertible Jeeps and street-legal electric carts, with pickup and delivery to condos and resorts. See our Kihei car rental page for the other South Maui options.

Local company or airport Jeep?
The big companies rent Jeeps too: Enterprise, for one, has a Maui Jeep rental page. That is the easy choice if you want a convertible for paved roads and one desk for everything. The local companies earn their place if you want a lifted Jeep, delivery to your hotel, or written permission for dirt roads. Ratings for every airport desk are on our Kahului Airport ratings page.
Pick the door count before the company. One Kauai Jeep renter, Discount Kauai Jeep Rental, lists 12.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats in a 2-door Wrangler and 31.5 in a 4-door. Hawaii Lifted Jeep Rentals lists its 4-door Wranglers as holding 4 large suitcases.
Where a Jeep helps on Maui, and where the contract still applies
- Road to Hana: paved and fine in any car. The unpaved back side past Kipahulu is what most agreements forbid.
- Kahekili Highway: narrow and paved, and some agreements restrict it. A Jeep does not change that.
- Beach parking: dirt and sand lots are where the extra clearance helps most.
Whatever you rent, the agreement decides where you can drive, not the vehicle. Read it before you head off the pavement. Still deciding on a car at all? Start with do you need a rental car on Maui.
