Short answer: West Maui has only a few rental desks. Avis and Budget share one at 11 Halawai Drive (3.4 and 3.7 on Google), Enterprise has a desk at the Sheraton Maui (3.7), and Hertz has one at the Hyatt Regency (2.7). The best-rated option is a local company, Aloha Auto Sales and Rentals (5.0). Most visitors still pick up at Kahului Airport.

Most of the island’s rental fleet sits at Kahului Airport on the other side of Maui, and West Maui has a handful of resort and town desks. Check for a free car with your condo
Before you book, check your lodging. KBM Resorts, which manages condos in Kaanapali and elsewhere in Hawaii, advertises a free four-door rental car from Hertz, Alamo, Avis or Budget with stays of 6 nights or more and arrival by December 31, 2026, with airport pickup and drop-off included. According to one of its listings, you pay a $15 per day airport tax, holiday dates can run short of cars, and the offer does not apply to stays starting December 15 to 31, 2026. Condos often charge for parking on top, so ask about that too.

West Maui desk or the airport?
- Car for the whole trip: pick up at Kahului Airport, where nine companies share one rental car center. See the Kahului Airport car rental guide.
- Car for one or two days of a resort stay: a Kaanapali or Lahaina desk saves you holding a car, and paying to park it, on the days you stay put. You will need a shuttle, taxi or rideshare from the airport first.
