Short answer: As of October 2026, no fee is confirmed at the shared Ulua and Mokapu lot in Wailea; Park Maui does not list it as a paid zone. It is one small lot, so go early.
Ulua beach parking is a single shared lot for Ulua and Mokapu beaches in Wailea, and the question most renters ask is whether they have to pay to use it. Here is what the official sources say, and where they stop saying anything.
Is Ulua beach parking free?
As of October 2026, no fee is confirmed at Ulua. The County of Maui’s Park Maui program, which charges non-residents for beach parking, lists only two paid zones in its app and FAQ: the Wailuku garage and the paved lots at Kama‘ole Beach Parks I and III in Kihei. Ulua is not on that list. Park Maui does still have an older Ulua and Mokapu page, but it dates from the 2022 pilot-planning phase and says pricing was “coming soon.”
Some blogs and search summaries say Ulua costs about $10 a day. I couldn’t find that in the official zone list, so treat it as unconfirmed. Look for pay-station signs when you arrive, and check the Park Maui app if you want to be sure.
What Kama‘ole parking costs, for comparison
Where Park Maui does apply, a Hawaii-Guide.com post updated August 31, 2026 lists non-resident rates of $10 a day, $50 a week, and $150 a month, with Hawaii residents parking free after verifying a state driver’s license. Park Maui also says Kama‘ole I and III are reserved for residents before 10 a.m. on weekends and county-observed holidays, though the parks stay open to everyone.
How to find the Ulua lot
From Wailea Alanui Drive, look for the yellow gates and a small sign reading “Mokapu and Ulua.” Turn onto Ulua Beach Drive and continue down the hill. There is a main lot, plus about 10 closer stalls near the roundabout. If those are full, unload your gear at the roundabout before you park.
When it fills up
Several traveler sources and a Google Maps review put the lot at full by about 8 to 9 a.m., especially on weekends. One local snorkel-shop guide also warns that construction may limit availability in the main lot, though it isn’t dated, so ask your hotel or check the lot when you arrive.
Planning the rest of the drive
Ulua is a short drive from Kihei, so it pairs easily with the Kihei rental car review. If you haven’t picked a car yet, see whether you need a rental car on Maui and the Kahului Airport car rental guide. Heading toward Hana or Haleakala later? Where to get gas on Maui covers the long stretches without a station.
