Short answer: Expect roughly $45 to $80 a night for Waikiki hotel parking. Waikiki is walkable, with buses and rideshares, so the cheapest plan is to have the car only on the days you leave it.

Waikiki parking is where a rental car stops being a convenience and starts being a daily bill. Here is what it costs, where else people park, and the one plan that avoids most of it.

What hotel parking costs

A June 2026 Hawaii-Guide.com breakdown puts Waikiki hotel parking at roughly $45 to $65 a night across many full-service properties. A September 2026 Honolulu Travels guide puts self-parking at about $45 a night and valet about $10 more, plus tax and tips. Parking is usually a separate line from the resort fee, so a seven-night stay can add several hundred dollars before you drive anywhere.

Ask the hotel two things before you book: whether parking is billed by calendar day or by 24 hours, and whether there is in-and-out access. Those details change what you actually pay.

Public garages and lots

Guides name a few public options, including the Waikiki Banyan garage on Kuhio Avenue, the Marina Parking Garage at the Ilikai, and the Fort DeRussy lot. Honolulu Travels puts the Marina garage closer to $35 a night, against about $45 at a typical hotel. Rates are posted at the entrance and change, so treat any number as a starting point. The Waikiki Improvement Association keeps a parking locations map.

Free and street parking

Some guides point to the lots near Kapiolani Park at the east end of Waikiki as free or cheap. They do not agree on rates or time limits, and street meter rates vary by source, so read the posted signs. Street spaces near the beach fill early and are often limited to a few hours.

The plan that avoids most of it

Waikiki is walkable, and buses and rideshares cover most of what you will do there. If you only need a car for a day trip to the North Shore or the windward side, rent for those days instead of the whole stay. That depends on where your rental company lets you pick up and return, so check when you book. For the bigger question, read do you need a rental car on Oahu.
