Short answer: Kona airport parking costs up to $24 per 24 hours, plus a $2.99 transaction fee, in three lots across from the terminal. Entry is ticketless: the system reads your license plate.
Kona airport parking changed in 2026. The lots went ticketless, a third lot opened, and you can now reserve a space ahead. Here is how it works.
Kona airport parking rates
From the official KOA parking site (rates in effect since February 1, 2024):
| Time parked | Total |
|---|---|
| Up to 15 minutes | Free |
| 16 to 30 minutes | $2 |
| Up to 1 hour | $5 |
| Up to 2 hours | $8 |
| Up to 3 hours | $11 |
| Up to 4 hours | $15 |
| Up to 5 hours | $19 |
| 5 to 24 hours (maximum per 24 hours) | $24 |
A $2.99 transaction fee is added at checkout. Cards are accepted; cash is taken only at the attended booth in Lot A. There is no public monthly parking.
Lots A, B and C
- Lot A (Makai, the main lot): about 700 spaces, a 1 to 2 minute walk to the terminal. Accessible parking and EV charging are here.
- Lot B (Mauka, north): about 750 spaces, 3 to 5 minutes away, with some covered parking.
- Lot C: the newest lot, across from the rental car center on Pao‘o Street, 5 to 7 minutes away.
The parking site shows live occupancy for each lot. Lot A runs close to full at busy times, so check it before you leave the house.
Ticketless entry and reservations
In January 2026, HDOT switched Kona and Hilo to ticketless parking run by Metropolis. Sign up in the Metropolis app or with the QR code at the lot, add your plate and a card, and the gate charges you on the way out. You can also reserve a space ahead on the KOA parking site and change the booking up to 2 hours before it starts.
Picking someone up
The Kona cell phone lot is near the International Arrivals Building, off the airport loop road, and is free for up to an hour. Stay with your vehicle.
EV charging
Lot A has EV-only stalls and a charging station for two cars, listed at $7 per 24 hours.
